ABSTRACT
THE IMPACT OF ACCOUNTING FOR FUND MERGERS AND LIQUIDATIONS is explored in this study, aiming to understand the procedures involved, the challenges faced during these processes, and the outcomes for stakeholders. A survey design was chosen to collect quantitative data from a wide array of industry professionals, justifying its use by the depth and breadth of information it can provide. Using Taro Yamane's formula, the sample size was determined to be 380 respondents, ensuring accuracy and reliability. The research focuses on Lagos, given its status as a financial hub with frequent fund mergers and liquidations. The reliability coefficient score of the survey tool was 0.88, indicating strong consistency. Findings reveal that fund mergers and liquidations pose significant challenges, including complex valuation issues, regulatory hurdles, and stakeholder communication difficulties. The study recommends the development of standardized guidelines for mergers and liquidations, enhanced training for accountants in these areas, and improved communication strategies to ensure stakeholder confidence and smooth transitions.
